Established in 1970, Salon has been a part of worldwide Film & TV for over 50 years. Originally in film production but soon after expanding into the hire of editing equipment followed by our newest storage sales division. As leaders in the digital editing hire market we changed from providing hundreds of Steenbeck linear editing tables across the globe to installing and supporting hundreds of Non-Linear Avid, Adobe and Apple FCP systems. Today we have systems on some of the worlds biggest (and smallest) productions. Still a family business, Salon focuses on providing the very best kit coupled with the very best technical support all at a price to match your budget.
‘Magician of Lubin’ hires Steenbeck, Cutting Room and Mickey Mouse phone
Menahem Golan’s ‘Magician of Lubin’ approach Salon to hire a cutting room, a Steenbeck and a Mickey Mouse phone, launching Salon’s full time editing equipment hire business.
In 2000 we purchased an old warehouse and totally redesigned it from the ground up to house two large warehouses, Linear and Non-Linear along with cutting rooms in London W3.
As we moved to an entirely Non Linear fleet we needed a new modern warehouse to cope with our requirements. W3 was sold and we purchased a modern newly build HQ in NW10, an easy journey from the centre of London with speedy access to all the major studios around London.
In response to a demand for customers needing low cost and outsourced lto backup, Salon launches ‘Archie’ our in-house LTO service. Our first major client was Tom Hooper’s – ‘The Danish Girl’.
To better serve our Soho clients we opened a central London office holding stock of all the major storage brands for fast delivery across London alongside engineering support to provide rapid response for any tech callouts to our hire customers.
